Bob Hazelwood, 70

MAY 26 – Robert M. “Bob” Hazelwood, 70, of Farmville passed away, Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Southside Community Hospital.

Born in Lunenburg County, Bob was the son of the late Robert Taylor and Gladys Smith Hazelwood. He was the former Treasurer for the Town of Farmville and Prince Edward Academy Varsity Football coach for 25 years. He was an avid sports fan, coached little league football and baseball, refereed basketball and football and umpired baseball for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances W. Hazelwood of Farmville; son, Rickey Hazelwood of Farmville; daughter, Sandra R. Elliott and husband, Brian of Midlothian; two grandsons, Brian Hazelwood of Winchester and Eric Hazelwood of Newport News; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Tanner Hazelwood and two sisters, Betty Creedle and husband, R. C. of South Hill and Gail Bolter of Kenbridge.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday (today), in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Interment followed in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice

Memorial contributions may be made to The Fuqua School Athletic Department.

Puckett Funeral Home, of Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
