Betty L. Stinson, 72 Of Wingina Dies Monday

WINGINA, July 15 – Betty Lann Stinson, 72, of Wingina, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at the UVA Hospital in Charlottesville.

She was born September 26, 1932 in Buckingham County, a daughter of the late Nick M. Lann, Sr. and Ruby W. Lann. She was preceded in death by her bothers, Nick, Jr., James, Gene and Edgar Lann and her sisters, Florence L. Wiseman and Mable L. Simpson.

Mrs. Stinson helped co-found Kirby L. Stinson Paving Inc. in 1972 and served as its secretary from its beginning until her death. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated church member where she taught Sunday School, served on committees and was the treasurer for some 40 plus years.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kirby L. Stinson; her children and their spouses, Kirby, Jr. and Wanda Stinson, Gary and Doris Stinson, Debora and Billy Black all of Wingina and Linda and T. C. Harvey of Appomattox; her grandchildren, Hope, Lewis and Katie Stinson of Wingina, and Cole Harvey of Appomattox; brothers, Herbert Lann of Dillwyn and Ray Lann of Buckingham and sisters. Ruby L. Bryant of Altavista and Elizabeth L. Plunkett of Indiana.

The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Spears Mountain Baptist Church on Rt. 604 In western Buckingham County where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Odell Coggins, Rev. Harold Powers and Rev. Buddy Bryant officiating. Interment will be in the Buckingham Community Cemetery.
