NOVEMBER 11 – Berta Wallace Wilkerson, 84, of Farmville, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at Southside Community Hospital. She was the wife of the late Herbert Porter Wilkerson Sr.

Born March 25, 1924 in Charlotte County, she was a daughter of the late Emra Claudius and Bessie Rutledge Wallace. She was retired from Craddock & Terry Shoe Corporation and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughters, Betty W. Kidd and Rita W. McFalls and husband, David W., all of Buckingham; son, Herbert P. Wilkerson Jr. “Buddy” and wife, Sandra of Cumberland; granddaughter, Ashley L. Booker of Cumberland; sister, Hixie Philbeck of Keysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Lucius, Garland, Russell, Otis, and Lewis Wallace, and five sisters, Ida Seger, Fannie Nuckols, Mattie Wilmoth, Beulah Irby and Mary Wallace.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Concord Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
