NORTH CAROLINA, April 29 – Mrs. Annie George Williams, 97, of 70 Oak Street, Tryon, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 after a week of critical illness. She had been a resident of White Oak Manor-Tryon for the past four and a half years.

Annie George Williams was born February 15, 1911 in Laurens, S.C. She was the wife of the late Jim Baber Williams Sr. and the daughter of the late John Scott George and the late Carrie Emma Cain George. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Williams was a retired elementary school teacher and a former resident of Saxapahaw, NC, Burlington, NC and Farmville. She was a member of Saxapahaw United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Miss Bobbie Williams of Mars Hill and Mrs. Joan W. Uhrich (Bill) of Flat Rock; a son, Jim B. Williams Jr. (Annette) of Tremonton, Utah; five grand-children; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Saxapahaw at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Saxapahaw United Methodist Church by the Rev. Marc W. Rickabaugh. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service.
