Services To Be Held Friday In Dillwyn For Bobby S. Shumaker
DILLWYN, May 20 – Bobby Shirley Shumaker, born June 24, 1937 in Buckingham County, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010. He was the son of Minnie and Percy (Mack) Shumaker, and was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Ann Allen.
After completing service in the Navy, he spent 30 years in Ohio where he ran a plumbing business. He returned to Buckingham in 1995 and was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Wyland Shumaker; two step-daughters, Leigh Anne Davis Taylor and husband, Dennis and Scotty Davis Edwards and husband, Mike; three step-grandsons, Chris Taylor, Russell Taylor and John Edwards, all of Buckingham; a sister, Betty Irving Martz of Chester; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two devoted friends, Mark Suppes and Dan Arnold both of Creston, OH.
Even though his health was declining, he undertook the huge task of cleaning the Dillwyn Town Cemetery and u-grading the entrances. He held a strong devotion to this cemetery because of his parents and many other family members and friends interred there.
