Private Service To Be Held In NY For Stanley L. Franck, 96

KENTUCKY, June 17 – Stanley L. Franck, 96, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Parkway Rehab and Medical Center. He was a former resident of Richmond and Syracuse, NY. He was born in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho on September 30, 1913, a son of the late Rev. Luther B. and Adelaide R. Franck, and brother of the late Philip B. Franck, all of Cumber-land.

Mr. Franck owned two poultry farms in Powhatan and Chesterfield counties during

World War II until 1953. He enlisted in the New York City National Guard in 1940 and served a one-year enlistment before the war began stationed at Virginia Beach.

He was a singer during the 1930's, attending Stetson School of Music and Juilliard

School of Music in New York on a voice scholarship. He traveled extensively with the Henry Busse band and performed with the Jan Savitt orchestra as the leading floor show singer. He also performed in many concerts and recitals as a baritone soloist, and was a guest soloist at the Riverside Church, New York.

In 1953, he moved from Virginia to Syracuse, NY where he was a real estate agent, member of the Greater Syracuse Board of Realtors, the Syracuse University Orange Pack, the Annual Orange Fest Committee, and Eastwood Lions Club. He had been a resident of Louisville, KY since 1987 and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary Fay Evans Franck; son, William F. (Ilona) of Louisville; daughter, Barbara Underwood (Larry) of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Louis (Emily) and Sarah Scheirich (Joe) of Louisville, and Glenn Underwood of Port Charlotte, FL, and great-grandson, Charles Stanley Franck.

Services will be private. Interment will be in the Groton Rural Cemetery, Groton, NY.
