JULY 1 – Myrtle Taylor Garrett, 81, of Farmville, wife of Roy T. Garrett Sr., departed her earthly life on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, after a courageous battle with illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Goldie Taylor, and two brothers, Earl Taylor (Louise) and Olen Taylor (Frances).

In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her loving memory six children, Roy Garrett Jr. (Anna), Joyce Thompson (Ronny), Sandi Scar-borough (Phil), Tom Garrett (Wendy), Becky Bartow (Mark) and Charles Garrett (Connie); two brothers, Haden Taylor (Martha) and Porter (Rosemarie); 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 2, 7-9 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Dillwyn, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Building Fund of Bethlehem Baptist Church, P.O. Box 66, Dillwyn, VA 23936.
