MEHERRIN, May 6 – Sara Frances Tatum, 64, of Meherrin, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in Farmville.

She was born in Charlotte County, November 9, 1946, and is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Sarah Flowers Tatum, brother James William Tatum, and sister, Barbara “Sue” Brown.

Surviving are her devoted companion, William Thomas of Kelling; children, John Distler Jr. and wife, Dawn of St. Marys, GA, Brian Distler and wife, Rhonda of Burkeville, Cyndi Distler Crews of Drakes Branch, Darlene Winn and husband, Randy of Blackstone, and Becky Watts and husband, Ray of Crewe; brother, Dale Tatum of Farmville; grandchildren, Deidre, Teya, John Daniel, Shawn, Sara Frances, Christopher Tyler, Katie, Kristen, James (J.R.), Shaun, Megan, Kristen, Dillon, and Trey, and great-grandson, Jayden.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Saturday, in Keysville Evangelical Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Ash Camp Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
