Funeral Service Held Saturday For Harkins Arthur Kelly, 83

DECEMBER 30 – Harkins Arthur Kelly, 83, died Wednesday, December 24 in Charlottesville.
Formerly of Farmvllle, he had made his home in Jacksonville, Florida for the past 25 years and had recently moved to Scottsville, to live with one of his sons.
He was born November 18, 1920 in Dickenson County, Virginia, a son of the late Sally Baker Kelly and Harkins Andrew Kelly.
A retired farmer, he was the widower of the late Christine Ferguson Kelly and Frances Fleming Kelly Pugh.
He is survived by five daughters, Dorothy K. Perry and her husband, Victor of Morehead, KY, Mary K. Farrell and her husband, James of Rice, Phyllis K. Gilbert of Farmville, Joyce K. Fore and her husband. Buckle of Farmville and Nancy K. Wood and her husband. Billy of Church Road; three sons, Eugene Kelly and his wife, Martha of Powhatan, Dennis Kelly and his wife, Brenda of Scottsville and Arthur Kelly of St. Louis, MO. A fourth son, Gary preceded him in death. He is also survived by brothers, Clyde Kelly of Richwood, OH; Oley Kelly of Fort Blackmore, Danny Joe Kelly of Stafford, Elzie Kelly of Spotsylvania, Donald Kelly of Webber City, Bobble Ray Kelly of Clintwood, Chester Kelly of Detroit, MI and three sisters; Nina Fleming of Madison Heights, MI, Draxie Johnson of Kingsport, TN and Hazel Smallwood of Alexandria; 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service was held Saturday, December 27 at the Prospect Gospel Tabernacle with interment in the church cemetery.
Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
