Five Eagles, one Duke and one Knight win James River District field event titles

Prince Edward County High School’s outdoor track and field program produced five individual district champions Monday, while Buckingham County High School’s and Cumberland High School’s programs each produced one during the field events portion of the James River District Championships held at Buckingham.

For the Lady Eagles, sophomore Jordan Booker won the girls long jump with a 16-foot-2 1/2-inch leap, and she won the girls triple jump with a 32-8 result. In the girls high jump, freshman Makayla Morris won with a five-foot jump.

Prince Edward senior Markeem Trent won the boys shot put with a 42-8 throw, besting his seed throw by 6 1/2 inches. Senior Quantavis Nash won the boys long jump with a 20-8 leap.

Buckingham junior Keana Jones placed first in the girls shot put with a 30-foot throw, topping her seed throw by 11 inches.

Cumberland junior Keyshawn Diming claimed first in the boys triple jump with a 41-11 mark that beat his seed distance by 10 inches.

The James River District Championships concluded Wednesday, with the track events held at Nottoway High School.
