Farmville area athletes stand out

Earning high placements this past weekend at the East End Lightning Invitational in Henrico were track and field athletes competing as part of the Farmville Area Track Express team. Abdul Johnson, pictured above on the left, competed in the male 17- and 18-year-old division and placed second in the long jump with a 6.20-meter leap and second in the triple jump with a 12.32-meter result. Haniyyah Johnson, pictured above in the center, competed in the female 15- and 16-year-old division and placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.85 seconds. Jarvin Perkins, pictured above on the right, also competed in the male 17-18 division and won the triple jump with a 12.63-meter result and placed third in the high jump with a 1.78-meter leap.
