Investigation continues into Red House Road accident

One person is dead and Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers are investigating what caused an accident Friday on Red House Road. According to state troopers, they were called out around 5:10 p.m. on Red House Road.

A 2003 Chevy Express van was heading northbound a half-mile north of Cub Creek Road, when the vehicle suddenly crossed the centerline, overcorrected, went off the right side of the road and struck an embankment. The van then overturned and the driver was ejected.

That driver, 82-year-old Samuel H. Robinson, died at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

VSP officials say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
