Students graduate DARE project

Prince Edward County Middle School recently recognized fifth-grade students who completed the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. Students were joined by family members to celebrate their accomplishment and highlight what they have learned. Prince Edward County Deputy Sheriff and School Resource Officer James Graves taught the 10-week program and was present at the graduation ceremony to hand out certificates to students. A’Dymond Baker was named the winner of the D.A.R.E. essay contest and read her award-winning essay to the attendees.

The following students were also recognized for their outstanding participation in the D.A.R.E program: A’Dymond Baker, Da’Nizjah Fowlkes, Serenity Brown, Milai Gray, Bryah Holland, Carlyle Jathan, Dakota Mericle, Damari Simmons, Miley Wilkerson, and Makayla Wooten. Through the D.A.R.E. program, students learn to resist peer pressure while gaining a better understanding of the risks and effects of dangerous substances.
