Library, schools offer free program

Prince Edward County Public Schools and Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library are offering free lunches and free books to children ages 0-18 years old. The lunches are available every Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Prince Edward Elementary School cafeteria and from noon until 1 p.m. at the library. Children can choose a book for free at the library site.

This is the first year the library has hosted the lunch program, Rick Ewing, director of the Central Virginia Regional Library, said.

Breakfast is available at the elementary school from 7-9 a.m. Transportation is provided at Parkview Gardens and Putney Street/Virginia Street.
