With hearts full of sadness we announce the passing of a beloved father, papa, brother and uncle Thomas P. Smith Jr. “Smitty” age 66, of Buckingham. He was delivered into the arms of our Lord surrounded by his devoted family on Wednesday, July 2. He was born on May 9, 1959 to the late Thomas P Smith Sr. and Hilda L. Maxey Smith Newton. In addition to his parents, Smitty was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon A. Smith and his sister, Patricia Ann Smith.

He is survived by his four children: Chris Smith (Becca), David Smith (Jesi), Amy Land and Kimberly Jamerson (Johnathan); eight grandchildren: Clayton Smith, Kinsley Smith, Eli Smith, Chloe Jamerson, Ryan Land, Noah Smith, Stuart Land, Thomas Land, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Palmore (JD); brother, Michael Smith; sister-in-law, Annette Silvers and brother-in-law, Ricky Amos (Dawn), as well as beloved friends, Jack and Kim Davis, and many other special friends.

When he wasn’t at his shop, Smitty’s Repair & Road Services, INC., he was in his garden, working with his bees, or helping a friend in need. In his life he was a devoted Christian and loved his family very much.  He was always saying “Just another day in Paradise.” He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, antiquing, and reading his Farmer’s Almanac. He was small in stature and would often say “Dynamite came in small packages”. Smitty’s larger than life personality and caring nature was known county wide. His legacy will live on in all whose lives he touched. His family is comforted knowing he was received in the arms of our Lord, his loving wife, mother, father and sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in Dillwyn Town Cemetery.
