A pair of Longwood lacrosse players earned postseason accolades, the Big South announced on Friday afternoon.

Rachel Abraham was named to the All-Big South Second Team, and Nicole Fordyce earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic Team.

Abraham was a force to be reckoned with in Big South contests throughout the season. The senior led the league in caused turnovers (22) and caused turnovers per game (2.44) in conference games. That included a career best five CT’s against Wofford, and she had at least three caused turnovers in five of the team’s nine conference contests.

The native of Oakville, Connecticut started every game for the Lancers this season and led the team with 26 CT’s and 42 ground balls. She helped the Lancer defense rank in the top half of the league in goals against in conference action.

Fordyce was one of the top scholars in the league and holds a 3.90 GPA. The senior has been named to the president’s list at Longwood five times and the dean’s list twice while majoring in Kinesiology. On the year, the New Zealand native tied for seventh in the Big South in assists per game (1.35). She was second on the team in assists, with 23.

She played in all 17 matches this season while earning 15 starts, and she was a critical piece of the Lancer offense. Over the final two matches, Fordyce tallied two goals and seven assists to close her senior season. She had points in 14 of the team’s 17 matches and set a career best with nine points against Howard on March 6 thanks to a three-goal, six-assist performance.

The Lancers finished the season tied for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Big South after a thrilling come-from-behind 14-13 win over Winthrop on Wednesday but lost the tiebreakers.
