January 21

  • Prince Edward County Public Schools announced via its Facebook page that due to continued icy roads conditions, Prince Edward County Public Schools will have a remote learning day.
  • Cumberland County Public Schools announced via its Facebook page Friday, Jan. 21 will be a remote learning day.
  • Buckingham County Public Schools will have virtual instruction on Friday, Jan. 21, due to the number of absent students and staff due to illness. In-person instruction will resume on Monday, Jan. 24. Twelve-month employees are to report at regular time, Buckingham County Public Schools (BCPS) Coordinator of Technology/ITRT Melissa Hanes advised in an email to the Herald.
  • Prince Edward County announced in a press release the following closings and delays due to the inclement weather and anticipated early-morning road conditions:
    • The County Courthouse, County Government Offices, Social Services, Piedmont Court Services will open at 10:30 a.m.
    • All scheduled Prince Edward Circuit Court cases are cancelled and will be rescheduled.
    • All Prince Edward Court Clerk’s Offices open at 10:30 a.m.
    • The County Animal Shelter will open at 10:30 a.m.
    • The Piedmont Health District and Prince Edward County Health Department will open at 10:30 a.m.
    • The County Landfill and Convenience & Recycling Center sites will open regular schedule.
    • The Heartland Regional Visitor Center is closed until Monday.

January 20 

  • Buckingham County Public Schools will have virtual instruction days on Thursday, Jan. 20, and Friday, Jan. 21, due to the number of absent students and staff due to illness. In-person instruction will resume on Monday, Jan. 24. Twelve-month employees are to report at regular time on Thursday and Friday.   • Prince Edward County Public Schools announced via its Facebook page that due to continued icy roads conditions, Prince Edward County Public Schools will be closed and there will be no food market tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 19.
  • Cumberland County Public Schools announced via its Facebook page school will open on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Jan. 19.
  • Buckingham County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19, according to an email The Herald received.

January 18

  •  According to Buckingham County Public Schools (BCPS) Coordinator of Technology/ITRT Melissa Hanes BCPS will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 18 for all students and staff.
  • Due to inclement weather and icy roads conditions, Prince Edward County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18.
  • Cumberland County Schools announced via its Facebook page Tuesday, Jan. 18, will be a remote student learning day due to the anticipated low temperatures which may cause black ice.
