Landfill Alert Committee to host online meeting

Cumberland County Landfill Committee will host an online meeting Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m. with updated information on the proposed landfill for Cumberland County. If this is not stopped it will have a major impact on Cumberland County and surrounding counties. Buckingham Baptist Church, located at 24234 North James Madison Highway in the Goldhill Area of New Canton, will host a drive-in service at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 7. All those planning to attend the service will drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars throughout the duration of the service having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service.

Cedar Baptist Church, located at 3932 Bell Road Dillwyn, will not be able to have Vacation Bible School like they had originally scheduled, but they will be giving out fun kits for children Pre-K (3 years old) through fifth grade. The kits will contain a Bible story, fun activities, a craft and snacks. To receive a fun kit please register by June 5. To register, go to Cedar’s website: www. cedarbaptistchurch. org. Once registered, the kits may be picked up at a drive through Friday, June 26, from 4-7 p.m. or Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Cedar Baptist Church.

Victory Baptist Church, located at 4339 Salem Road Spout Springs will be hosting an in-house worship service Sunday, June 7, at 9 a.m. The church will be at 50% capacity or 100 people. Families may sit together with distances of six feet from the next individual or family. Those who are uncomfortable at coming to this service may attend a drive-in parking lot service at 10:30 a.m. All those planning to attend the service will drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars or they may bring chairs and sit by their cars throughout the duration of the service having no contact with individuals while there, and must leave following the service.

Buckingham United Methodist Charge, consisting of Browns Chapel, Hanes Chapel and Rocky Mount UMC, will be hosting drive-in parking lot services at Browns Chapel UMC located 15 North of Dillwyn on state route 617, Gravel Hill Road, Sunday, June 7, with morning worship service at 9:45 a.m. with special music featuring Barry Snoddy of Buckingham followed by the morning worship message from Evelyn Penn. All those planning to attend the service will drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars or they may bring chairs and sit by their cars throughout the duration of the service having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service.
