Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) senior Adam Hade was selected as the 2020 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Golf Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year, and Tigers third-year Head Coach Chad Eisele garnered Jack Jensen Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year, as announced by the conference office.

Hade was also a First Team All-ODAC selection, as were sophomores John Hatcher Ferguson and Hunter Martin, while senior Bruce Shober was a Second Team All-ODAC choice.

Hade ranked 57th in NCAA Division III and 27th in the South Region with his 73.44 scoring average through six tournaments and 16 rounds. He posted season-low scores of 68 for 18 holes, 141 for 36 holes and 211 for 54 holes.

Hade earned two Top- 10 individual finishes among three Top-20 placings overall with two rounds in the 60s among seven rounds of par or better. He tied for eighth at The O’Briant-Jensen Memorial Oct. 28-29 in Greensboro, North Carolina, posting a 74-69—143. Hade tied for 13th nationally in DIII par-3 scoring, 3.09; tied for 15th in par-4 scoring, 4.11; tied for 22nd in pars per round, 11.13; was 29th in average score, 73.44; tied for 42nd in birdies, 46; and tied for 48th in first round scoring, 73.83.

Hade is the first Tiger golfer since 2007 to garner the sportsman award named after the late Ted Keller, a former director of athletics as well as football and golf coach at Randolph-Macon College.

Martin ranked 18th in DIII and sixth in the region with his team-best 71.69 scoring average through six tournaments and 16 rounds. He posted season-low scores of 67 for 18 holes, twice, 138 for 36 holes and a team-best 210 for 54 holes.

Martin earned one Top-Five and two Top- 10 individual finishes among six Top-20 placings overall with three rounds in the 60s among eight rounds of par or better. He tied for fifth at the Gordin Collegiate Classic Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Columbus, Ohio, posting a 67-71-73—211. Martin ranked fourth nationally in DIII first-round scoring, 71.00; fifth in par-4 scoring, 4.06; sixth in average score, 71.69; tied for seventh in par-3 scoring, 3.06; eighth in birdies, 58; tied for 14th in par-5 scoring, 4.79; tied for 19th in final-round scoring, 72.17; and ranked 21st in pars per round, 11.19. Hunter previously was named to the 2020 NCAA Division III PING All-America Second Team and the PING All-South Region Team.

Ferguson ranked 47th in DIII and 20th in the region with his 72.94 scoring average through six tournaments and 16 rounds. He posted season-low scores of 68 for 18 holes, twice, a team-best 137 for 36 holes and 212 for 54 holes.

Ferguson earned one Top-Five individual finish among three Top-20 placings overall with four rounds in the 60s among eight rounds of par or better. He tied for second at the Royal Lakes/ Oglethorpe Fall Invitational Oct. 7-8 in Flowery Branch, Georgia, posting a 69-68—137. Ferguson tied for 14th nationally in DIII first-round scoring, 72.33; tied for 15th in par-4 scoring, 4.11; tied for 20th in par-5 scoring, 4.81, and birdies, 51; tied for 21st in average score, 72.94; tied for 27th in pars per round, 11.00; and tied for 40th in par-3 scoring, 3.21. Ferguson previously was named a 2020 NCAA Division III PING Honorable Mention All-American and to the PING All-South Region Team.

Bruce Shober ranked 88th in DIII and 38th in the region with his 73.88 scoring average through six tournaments and 16 rounds. He posted season-low scores of 70 for 18 holes, 141 for 36 holes and 212 for 54 holes.

Shober earned one Top-20 finish overall with seven rounds of par or better. He tied for 12th at the Golfweek Division III Fall Preview on Oct. 13-15 in Miramar Beach, Florida, posting a 71-70- 71—212. Shober tied for seventh nationally in DIII pars per round, 11.63; was 23rd in par-4 scoring, 4.14; tied for 29th in final-round scoring, 72.67; tied for 35th in par-3 scoring, 3.18; tied for 36th in average score, 73.88; and tied for 49th in par-5 scoring, 5.02. He is a three-time All-ODAC selection during his four years at H-SC.

Eisele led the H-SC golf program to Top-10 national rankings in both the Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll — fifth, and the Golfstat Division III Top 25 — sixth. H-SC posted one tournament win among six Top-10 and three Top- Five team finishes in six tournaments, averaging 289.44 per round to rank fourth in DIII and third in the region.

The Tigers led DIII in first-round scoring, 73.37; were second nationally in par-4 scoring, 4.14, and pars per round, 11.11; third in average score, 73.46; fourth in par-3 scoring, 3.15; fifth in final-round scoring, 73.57; seventh in par-5 scoring, 4.94; and eighth in birdies, 226.
