Joy (Jody) was one of eight daughters and three brothers. She is survived by Ruth Place, Steven E. Shelton (Sherry), Vonita Calbough, and Brenda Shelton. She was predeceased by Helen DeAngelis, Evelyn Gabage, Marie Johnson, Herbert (Bud) Shelton, Dorcus (Dot) Hutton and Daniel Z. Shelton.

Jody’s professional nursing career began at the Elmer Hospital, NJ in 1969. She was passionate in caring for those in the ICU and same day surgery. They moved to Farmville, VA in 1988. Jody soon found herself missing the children, hence she and Estle opened their hearts and home and became foster parents (thru DYFS) for many years. Jody’s arms were always open and ready to hold any child. She was a devoted Member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church since 1988. She loved to sing with Estle and shared the gift of song with many, always ready to share the Gospel message.

Jody was sadly stricken with Alzheimer’s, robbing her and her family of her loving personality. Graveside services for the family will be held on Thursday April 16, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Spring Creek Baptist Church, Darlington Heights.
