The Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will not be hosting its regular monthly meeting due to the coronavirus.

Our sympathy is extended to the Wilkerson family of Chesterfield, formerly of Farmville. Mable Wilkerson, age 87, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 14. She will be greatly missed by all.

Buckingham Baptist Church located at 24234 North James Madison Highway in the Goldhill Area of New Canton will be hosting drive in services on Sunday, April 26 at 11 a.m. All those planning to attend the service may drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars throughout the duration of the service, having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service. Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following people: Todd Worley of Cumberland, Bernice Baird of Dillwyn and Nancy Fairchild all having birthdays on Friday, April 24, Junior Midkiff of Cumberland on Saturday, April 25, Doris Roberts of New Canton and Caroline Martin of Dillwyn both having birthdays on Tuesday, April 28.

Our sympathy is extended to the Bickford family of New Canton. Peggy Ann (Emert) Bickford, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16. She will be greatly missed by all.

Our sympathy is extended to the Lumpkin Family of Scottsville. Virginia M. Lumpkin, age 95, went home to be with the Lord March 20. She was survived by her sister Grace Ownby, formerly of Dillwyn, now residing in North Carolina.

Our sympathy is extended to the Gough Family of Wingina. Tammy Gough of Wingina recently lost her brother to cancer in Florida. He will be greatly missed.

The 2020 annual spring Miles Reunion scheduled for Saturday, April 25, has been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Heart of Virginia Festival on May 2 in Farmville has been canceled due to the coronavirus and also May Fest in Buckingham on Saturday, May 9, has also been canceled.
