Green Front Furniture launched an online endeavor Sunday, April 12, aimed at expanding the business’ exposure and continuing to generate sales during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re making an online rug store — just the rugs, because those are easy to ship compared to furniture,” Green Front Furniture President Den Cralle said. “There’s hardly any breakage. It’s going to be GreenFrontRugs. com.”

It is still the same company, he said, but the focus is simply one of its offerings.

He noted Green Front Furniture is largely interested in generating foot traffic into its various warehouses, but those warehouses have been closed to the public since the last Friday in March due to the pandemic.

One of those warehouses has been retrofitted, however, to be a studio for taking pictures of the rugs being sold online, Cralle said.

He noted he goes to India and Pakistan and brings rugs here directly so there is no middle man.

“Hand-knotted rugs is something we’re really known for,” he said. “So all we have to do is put them online, which is easier said than done.”

He said the company has not done a hard push promoting the rug website yet, but it is up and running.

“We’ll kind of see how that goes, and we’ll have free shipping, pretty much, in the U.S,” he said.

But he emphasized the company’s primary goal is still to draw people into Green Front’s warehouses for shopping opportunities.

“This will hopefully give us some exposure,” he said, noting that hopefully they will be impressed by the selection of rugs and prices and say, “Let’s go down to Farmville. Let’s go check that place out.”
