Someone recently applied new paint to the Third Street side of the Doyne Building in conjunction with the remnants of the “America’s First Two-College Town” mural to create a new message amid the fight against the novel coronavirus — ”God help Farmville, Virginia.” The Farmville Downtown Partnership’s two-college town mural, funded by Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College and painted by Joe Giles and his team in 2016, has been in the process of coming down this year as a historic renovation of the building is underway.
