Dear Editor:

As The Herald has reported, “Mayor says Town to evaluate options on statue.”

I have some thoughts:

If anything offends anybody, it should be re-evaluated.

This particular statue was erected during a period (early 1900s) of racial unrest using Civil War heroism as a stimulus … no social value.

These statues were mass produced and mail ordered … no artistic value.

This statue offends me and I’d like to see it taken away, perhaps to the Confederate Cemetery where it might be treasured by those whose hearts are nourished at that place.
