Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will be hosting its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road in Cumberland. The purpose of this meeting is to inform Cumberland County residents and surrounding counties with updated information as to why this mega landfill will be detrimental to everyone. All are welcome.

Belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to T.J. Waycaster of Powhatan on Sunday, Jan. 5, and the Rev. Clyde Senger of Crewe on Monday, Jan. 6.

Family, friends and neighbors would like to take this opportunity to welcome Rodney and Sandra Ownby of Dillwyn into their new home in which they moved into between Thanksgiving and Christmas after losing their home and possessions to a fire in the summer of 2019. On Sunday, Jan. 5, a Christmas celebration was held with a number of family members attending with great food, fun and fellowship.
