Virginia Dowler Dickhoff

Virginia Dowler Dickhoff of Hampden-Sydney passed away at home January 15, 2020, at the age of 91. A native of Prince Edward County, Virginia graduated from Farmville High School, attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg and later graduated from business school in Lynchburg.
Virginia was a farmer and gardener, helping with the family dairy business and keeping all of the books for the Dickhoff Brothers farm. She cared deeply about keeping her property neat and tidy and was often seen in her yard mowing, weed-eating, or picking up trash along the highway well into her later years.
She enjoyed being outside and loved observing the birds and wildlife. She often used natural materials found in her yard and surrounding woods for artistic creations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. (Willie) Dickhoff, Jr. She is survived by her children Dora Anna (George), Liz (Steve) and Carl; grandchildren Chris (Shelley) and Emily; and great grandchildren Haley and Elijah.
A private burial was held January 17, 2020. A Celebration of Life was held at Puckett Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
