Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature will have an Open Drawing Studio Feb. 3 at 5:30 p.m. In observational drawing, an image is made from things actually seen, rather than from imagination or from a photograph. Realistic representations aren’t necessarily the goal, but can be a result. More importantly, there is an unfiltered connection between what is being observed in three dimensions and what is represented in two dimensions. A SCAN host will set up a still-life arrangement, give minimal guidance, perform demonstrations if requested and allow the artist the space to practice the discipline of observation.

Reserve a spot as space is limited. Bring paper and drawing supplies, even watercolor or acrylic paints (no oils or solvents). The class is designed for ages 11 years and older.

A parent must accompany a child younger than 11. Sign up for this class and many more at the website: https:// svilleartsandnature. org/classes-workshops/ observational-drawing-open-studio-kt3w7. The location is Victory Hall at 401 Valley Street in Scottsville.
