Buckingham boys hoops team improves to 10-0 on the season

Buckingham County High School’s varsity boys basketball team competed in a thriller Wednesday night, Jan. 8, defeating host Appomattox County High School 68-67 to stay undefeated on the season.
The Knights were down by three points with 25 seconds remaining in the game but then made two steals leading to four points that allowed them to claim their 10th straight win.
Fueling Buckingham’s efforts Wednesday was junior forward Gerry “Tae” Toney, who registered 21 points and 11 rebounds, with 10 of his points coming in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead shot with 5.3 seconds remaining.
Knights junior forward Xavier Copeland had a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Amari Toney added 15 points, and sophomore guard Damorrious Holman had 14 points, including four three-pointers.
Buckingham (10-0, 5-0 James River District) hosts Nottoway High School on Friday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m.
