The Weyanoke Garden Club met on Nov. 20, at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library. Town of Farmville Horticulturalist Jay Wilkerson presented a program on “Foraging the Forest.”

The PowerPoint presentation focused on finding and identifying various mushrooms in the woods of the Prince Edward County area and beyond. Wilkerson noted those that were safe to consume and those that were not. He recommended that first-time foragers be accompanied by an expert “mushroom hunter.” Refreshments were provided by Ann Morton Neale and Liz Knies.
