Payne Memorial UMC in Cumberland will have Christmas Eve services Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.

Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee will be hosting its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road in Cumberland. The purpose of this meeting is to inform Cumberland County Residents and surrounding counties with updated information as to why this mega landfill will be detrimental to everyone. All are welcome to attend.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following people: Barbara Davis of Arvonia on Friday, Dec. 20, Linda Miles of Cumberland on Saturday, Dec. 21, James Boyles of Cumberland and Nell Spain of Buckingham both having birthdays on Sunday, Dec. 22, and Ralph Dunnavant of Dillwyn on Monday, Dec. 23. A very special happy birthday wish is sent out this week to Jesus, address heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Hatcher Baptist Church of Cumberland proudly presents its Christmas program, “Peace has come through our Savior Jesus Christ,” on Sunday evening Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. followed by refreshments in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Mike Meade and congregation welcome all to attend.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

A speedy recovery is sent out to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Buckingham United Methodist Charge, consisting of Browns Chapel, Hanes Chapel and Rocky Mount United Methodist churches, will be hosting its annual Christmas Eve services on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m. at Browns Chapel UMC located on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Road) Dillwyn. Pastor Evelyn Penn and the entire congregation welcomes all to attend.

Cedar Baptist Church located 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn, will be hosting its annual Christmas Eve service on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. Pastor Tommy Armstrong and the entire congregation welcome all to attend.
