Eugene M. Philbeck

Eugene M. Philbeck, 80, of Farmville, Virginia passed away on December 8, 2019. He was born at his home in Charlotte County, Virginia on March 2nd, 1939 to the late Addis and Naomi Philbeck. Gene went to be with his loving wife of 60 years, Eva Philbeck.
Gene, also known as Poppa, loved to spend his time working in his shops repairing and building all sorts of things for himself, family and friends. Through the years, Gene also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors rabbit and quail hunting and fishing. He was proudly retired from the Town of Farmville as Director of Public Works after 31 years of service. He was also very proud to have served his country in the United States Army for 4 years. Above all, he was lovingly devoted to his wife and to his family. His kind-hearted spirit and loving heart will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Philbeck Meadows (B.J.) of Farmville, two grandchildren, Cody Meadows (Heather) and Casey M. Tharpe (Nick), three great-grandchildren, Walker Tharpe, Laurel Kate Meadows, and Ashlin Tharpe, his brother Larry Philbeck (Helen), and a sister, Peggy Haley. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Goodroe and Faye Lankford.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11, from 6-8 p.m., also at Puckett Funeral Home.
