Voluntary burn ban lifted

At the Nov. 12 monthly Cumberland County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board lifted its voluntary burn ban enacted on Oct. 8.

The board originally placed the voluntary ban after a period of abnormally dry and moderate drought conditions throughout the county that created a concerning fire hazard. The ban discouraged all open-air fires and outdoor burning.

At the Nov. 12 meeting the board cited that after a month that saw appropriate rainfall and an overall improvement in conditions, the voluntary burn ban could be officially lifted.
