Students welcome soldiers

The Central VA Christian School pre-K and kindergarten students welcomed two soldiers to class on Friday, Nov. 8 to say thank you and learn about the military. Students were joined by AM1 First Class Petty Officer Garcia and Staff Sargent Torres.

Interested in joining or starting a 4-H Club? The Pegasus 4-H Horse and Pony Club meet once a month on Thursdays for youth interested in learning more about horses. There are projects for youth who ride and for those who do not. Club leader is LaRue Dowd. Call the Buckingham Extension office at (434) 969-4261 for more information.

Ever wanted to visit the Riviera? Well, the 2020 Philadelphia Flower Show’s Theme is “Riviera Holiday” where you will be able to view and enjoy opulent Mediterranean tropical gardens and florals. Travel in Style of Midlothian is providing a bus tour again to the Philadelphia Flower Show from Food Lion in Dillwyn from Feb. 29 to March 2. The trip includes bus fare, Tour director services, accommodations at Hilton Garden Inn, breakfast at hotel, tickets to Philadelphia Flower Show and Longwood Gardens. On Dec. 7 from 3-6 p.m., the Carter G. Woodson PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is hosting a “Supper with Santa” event at the Carter G. Woodson Complex Cafeteria. Tickets will be for sale and are required to enter. Forms will go home with primary and elementary students, but will be available to the public as well. Cedar Baptist Church at 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn will be having a Thanksgiving Dinner at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, followed by a Thanksgiving program. All are welcome to attend.

Make homemade jelly or jam, just in time for the holidays at this Jelly Making Workshop, which will be offered on Friday, Dec. 13 or Monday, Dec. 16 (choose one), from 3:40-7 p.m., at the Buckingham Agriculture Center for youth ages eight and up.
