The Redbud Garden Club met Oct. 22 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dottie Fahrner and Geraldine Sanderson as hostesses. The program for the evening involved craft projects, which prompted laughter and entertainment. Teresa Chapman showed the group how to make a wooden sign using a stencil with paint or stain. Members chose either “Welcome” or “Gather“ signage. The completed sign could be used either inside or outside. Under the direction of Janet Higgins, members created a mod podge jar decorated with leaves and jute which could be used as a candle holder.
During the business meeting, Mary Ann McEwen was received as a new member.
Members winning ribbons for their accessorized Hogarth design using cat(s) entitled “Tall Tails” were (blue) Higgins, Ann Ligon, Nancy Schaeffer and Jo Smith and (red) Mary Hazlegrove.
Winners for “The Last Hurrah,” which was an arrangement using dried materials in a mini pumpkin shell, were (blue) Patsy Miessler and Sarah Schember and (red) Dottie Fahrner, Hazlegrove, Higgins, Ligon, Sanderson, Schaeffer and Joyce Thompson. Horticulture exhibitors were Higgins and Schaeffer.
