‘Pack the Bus’ drive

Make homemade jelly or jam just in time for the holidays at this Jelly Making Workshop which will be offered on Friday, Dec. 13, or Monday, Dec. 16, (choose one), from 3:40-7 p.m. at the Buckingham Agriculture Center for youth ages eight and up. Space is limited to eight youth per session. A light dinner will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Buckingham Extension Office.

Come and “go green” at the Going Green Christmas Camp at Holiday Lake 4-H Center on Dec. 6-8 for ages five-13. Experience the joy of camp during a fun weekend of activities, recreation and special programs. Trained teen and adult leaders are also encouraged to attend. Call the Extension Office at (434) 969-4261 to find out more about volunteering. The registration deadline is Nov. 20. Transportation is not provided.

Interested in joining or starting a 4-H Club? 4-H Shooting Education certification is offered twice per year for adults interested in forming a shooting education club (archery, shotgun, muzzle loading, pistol and rifle). Virginia Autism Hope Summit will be held on Nov. 16 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the University of Virginia Inn at Darden, located at 10 Duffy Blvd. in Charlottesville. This event is free of charge and will provide an opportunity for learning, networking, and discussion on a range of topics related to autism across the life span. Families, self-advocates, friends and service providers are welcome.

Maysville Baptist Church now offers AWANA Club for children in grades K-6 grades. Club meets from 6:30-7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the church. Children can be dropped off or adults are welcome to stay and join in Bible Study. The Youth Group for seventh-12th grades also meets at this time. The Buckingham 4-H Livestock club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Extension Office. The program will include election of officers, officer training, character discussion, and review of club constitution and bylaws. Plans for the Christmas party will also be discussed.

There will be a “Pack the Bus” drive on Nov. 23 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Coats, hats and gloves can be dropped at First Baptist Church in Dillwyn or in the parking lot of Belk in Farmville. This event is being sponsored by Hope for Appalachia.
