Highlighted by six programs achieving perfect scores and three others surpassing the 90-point threshold, Longwood University athletics matched an NCAA Division I record with a graduation success rate (GSR) of 90 in the NCAA’s most recent GSR report, a Longwood athletics press release cited.
Officials noted in the release that in the NCAA’s metric that measures a university’s academic success related to scholarship student-athlete graduation rates, Longwood hit the overall score of 90 for a second straight year to match what last year was the department’s highest GSR rating for a four-year cohort to date.
Longwood’s overall mark tied for the third-highest rate in the Big South and exceeds the national GSR average of 89, the release stated. Additionally, both the Longwood student-athlete population and the general student population earned the highest four-year Federal Graduation Rate among all Big South peers, with Lancer student-athletes exceeding the university’s general student population by one point, 68-67.
