Celebrating Wallace

Help in celebrating the 25th year of Ruth Wallace leading the 4-H program in Buckingham County. On Oct. 25, Ruth celebrated a quarter of a century working with local youth and families. Would you join in making a tax-deductible donation in her honor to support Buckingham 4-H? Donations should be made payable to the Virginia Tech Foundation (memo Buckingham 4-H) and mailed to the Buckingham Extension Office at P.O. Box 227, Buckingham, VA 23921. Show how much Wallace means to your family and the youth of Buckingham County.

Spreading God’s Gifts will be having a fundraiser on Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Tommy and Debbie England will bring the music. The menu will be roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, dessert and beverage. All are welcome. Come out and help them help others.

Buckingham County FFA members are selling discount cards, redeemable at eating establishments in and around Buckingham and Farmville. The discounts are good until Sept. 30, 2020, and most have unlimited uses. For more information, contact Casey Davis at (434) 969-6100, extension 102.

Interested in joining or starting a 4-H Club? SPIN Clubs are special interest clubs where youth gather with two or more caring adults for six meetings to learn about a particular area. They have curriculum, or you can come up with your own idea. Training for adult volunteers is available. If interested, contact Ruth Wallace at ruwallac@vt.edu.

The Central Virginia Land Conservancy (CVaLC), a local land trust and a nonprofit organization which serves Amherst, Nelson, Appomattox, Campbell counties and Lynchburg is expanding their service area to include Buckingham County and are reaching out to landowners who might be interested in working with them. They provide information and guidance to landowners through the easement process, and have assisted landowners in placing thousands of acres into permanent conservation easements.
