Wasps sting Tigers, 56-17

Emory & Henry College totaled 592 yards of offense Saturday, including 391 yards passing from Hunter Taylor and 265 yards receiving by Derrick Yates, on its way to a 56-17 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football win against Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) at Fred Selfe Stadium in Emory, a H-SC press release noted. The visiting Tigers fell behind 28-3 at halftime and never recovered against the Wasps (2-2, 1-1 ODAC). Taylor threw for five touchdowns and ran for another, while Yates had three touchdown receptions.
Hamdpen-Sydney senior captain and quarterback Clay Vick passed for 195 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on 23-for-42 passing, the release stated. Sophomore running back Kaleb Smith had 51 yards rushing on 15 attempts, adding 62 yards receiving on eight receptions and one touchdown. Junior wide receiver Dillon Costello had 38 yards on five catches, and junior wide receiver Blake Page finished with 29 yards on three catches and one touchdown. Senior captain and wide receiver Major Morgan had just two receptions for 21 yards, junior tight end Tucker Moore added two catches for 19 yards, while junior wideout Nick Kallivokas had two catches for 18 yards.
Officials in the release said sophomore cornerback Jordan Fields had 12 tackles to lead the Tigers, while senior captain and linebacker Griffin Davis added 10 tackles, including one for a loss.
Hampden-Sydney (1-4, 0-3 ODAC) hosts Bridgewater College (4-0, 2-0 ODAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. during H-SC’s annual homecoming weekend.
