The 2019 Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association (PEFYA) Majors All-Stars clinched the Virginia Dixie Youth Baseball Division 1 State Championship with their 13-4 victory over the Prince George all-star team July 10 during the state tournament in Victoria. With that win, the PEFYA boys became the first Prince Edward-Farmville Major League all-star team to go to the Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series since 1963. Representing Virginia, the team is set to begin World Series play in Ruston, Louisiana, on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The boys hold an overall record of 8-3 this summer. They went 4-1 on their way to winning the 2019 Dixie Youth Baseball Major League District 5 Tournament in Sutherland, earning back-to-back victories over the Blackstone all-star team to clinch the title after also defeating the Charlotte County all-star team twice. The Prince Edward-Farmville Majors went 4-2 in the state tourney, with back-to-back wins over Prince George and victories over the Buckingham and Blackstone all-star teams. They fell in the tourney final, but that was against the Division 2 Hopewell all-star team, so it did not impact PEFYA’s already-earned status as the Division 1 state champs.
