Welcome back students, faculty and staff at Buckingham County Public Schools for the start of school on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Best of luck to everyone during this new academic year. Be on the lookout for busses in the morning and afternoon to ensure the safety of our students.

The Buckingham Library continues the fun. On Monday, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m., enjoy Ali Pfautz “The Story Lady.” Children will become a part of the fantastical and funny stories that Ali will share. Come out on Friday, Aug. 9 from 6-7 p.m. for a late night library event and compete against other families during a Disney movie trivia night.

Join the National Health Center Week Celebration and Rod Manifold Memorial 5K on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Central Virginia Community Health Center, 25892 N. James Madison Highway. Enjoy games, raffles, local agency information, vendors, yard sale, car show and untimed 5K race. Fun for the entire family. Concord Baptist Church is holding Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 11. Paul McNulty will bring the morning message. Worship service is at 11 a.m. The church is located at the intersection of Francisco and Deer Run Roads at Sheppards.

Curdsville Community Center will meet on Monday, Aug. 5, at 6:30 p.m. featuring a musical program. Everyone is welcome, but bring a covered dish or dessert. The community center is located at 122 School Road, just off U.S. Route 15.

Anyone interested in playing open gym coed volleyball for ages 16 and up, contact (434) 969-4242. Program will start in late fall.

The Food as a Business Program will be hosting a four-part webinar series in August on Business Basics for food and agriculture-based businesses. The first webinar will be held on Friday, Aug. 9. Each webinar will be on a Friday morning at 10 a.m. and run for about an hour. There will be a Q&A session in each webinar, so bring your questions. The webinars will be hosted using Zoom. All extension professionals, new and beginning agriculture-based businesses, and government/ nonprofit organizations working to increase entrepreneurial activities within their communities are welcome to join.
