Buckingham Extension Office is hosting a 4-H Foodies Day Camp from July 30-Aug. 2 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. each day. Spend time learning or refining cooking skills while making dishes in a food challenge setting, baking, canning and more. Participants will do food preparation and preservation. Some days campers will bring a lunch, other days they will make their lunch. The program is designed for ages 9-18. Space is limited. For more information, call (434) 969-4261.

Join the Buckingham Library on Friday, July 5, from 6-7 p.m. for the Late Night Library event. Let the stars light your way. Create a constellation flashlight. The library will be closed on Thursday to celebrate Independence Day.

On July 13, the Buckingham Library will host a Family Escape Room where families will be challenged to collect clues and solve puzzles in time to get out of our candy factory-themed escape room. Buckingham County Youth League Girls’ Softball will hold its state tournament on July 12 for the Darlings at Charlotte County, the Belles at Rustburg, and the Sweetees with location to be announced. The boys baseball tournaments will be held on July 5 for Coach Pitch at South Boston and Majors at Lunenburg. The Minors will be held at Bedford on July 12.

Advanced Horseman Camp will be held at Sprouse’s Corner Ranch on July 15-19 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. This camp is offered for advanced riders, ages 7-17, who have developed an independent seat at walk, trot and canter. Riders will practice more advanced skills in dressage, jumping, saddle seat riding and western games such as barrel racing and pole bending. Maysville Presbyterian Church is hosting Camp Peaks day camp from July 15-19 each day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The program is designed for ages five-12. Children will enjoy activities such as music, games, crafts, swimming, nature walks and more. An on-site director and counselors will lead the fun activities. The deadline to register is July 7 and applications are available at The Spa in Dillwyn. The church is located at 22945 W. Anderson Highway in Buckingham. For more information, call (804) 833-3333.
