Heavy rainfall overnight raises river

Following heavy rainfall on Wednesday, the Appomattox River was overflowing its bank. According to the National Weather Service at 9 a.m. on June 13, river levels were at 13.12 feet in Farmville. At 9 p.m. on June 12 the river was sitting at just over 6 feet. Flood stage is 16 feet.
The new River Walk Bridge currently under construction near Wilck’s Lake Park shows how close river levels have increased overnight.
