Cleveland J. Taylor, 63, of Buckingham passed peacefully at his home on June 21, 2019.
He was the son of the late Cleveland Taylor and Minnie Murphy. He worked for Bartlett Tree Company for 26 years. He then became self-employed as a tree trimmer and handyman, where he worked for many people in the community.
He loved the Lord and his Bethlehem Baptist Church family. He loved music, playing checkers and horseshoes, going fishing, enjoying meals and laughing with his family and many friends.
He loved his faithful and loyal canine companion, Ruby, aka Hotdog, whom he adopted from the neighborhood and made a permanent home with him.
During hunting season he always enjoyed going to the hunt club and hanging out with his many cousins and friends.
He was well loved and spoiled by both his parents until their passing. Afterwards the other siblings took up the tradition to continue spoiling and loving him.
We will always remember his smile and one of a kind laugh.
He is survived by five siblings, Jimmie Murphy, Lucy Jamerson (Andrew), Irene Rush, Geraldine Shumaker (Donnie) and Donald Murphy and many other family members.
Funeral services were held on June 24, 2019 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with interment in the Dillwyn Town Cemetery. Dunkum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
