JUNE 7

ALL DAY FUNDRAISER 11 a.m.-9 p.m. with pizza and movie to benefit the Southside SPCA at Pizza World. Movie will be showing at 6:30 p.m.

ARTISTS RECEPTION, 6-8 p.m. at Riverside Café featuring the works of Susan Harwood, Richard McClintock and Donna Taylor. Their work will be on display through July.

LIVE AT RIVERSIDE, 6-9 p.m. hosted by Farmville Jaycees at Riverside Park, 517 N. Main St., Farmville.

JUNE 7-8

WOMEN’S CONFERENCE, 7 p.m. Friday entitled “2019 Fill My Cup Lord,” at the Apostolic Faith Church of All Nations, 1358 Sheppards Road, Farmville. Contact Evangelist Wendy Jones at (434) 547-8641 for tickets. Saturday services will begin at 8 a.m. with breakfast. Lunch will be served.

FIREFLY FESTIVAL, 9-11 p.m. on High Bridge. This program is being offered earlier this year in order to take advantage of a new moon. For more information call (434) 315-0457.

BIG DEMO DAY 2019, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Appomattox River Company, 614 N. Main St., Farmville. Event is free.

MUSICALE, 1 p.m. at the home of Jackie Paterson, 1771 Saw Mill Road, Farmville, sponsored by CVA. Music performed by James Kidd. Guests are asked to bring a favorite finger food to share.

COMMUNITY SOCIAL ON SOLAR TRAINING, 3-7 p.m. at 1296 Union Hill Road, Buckingham. A free, fun and festive event to introduce the solar training and Wi-Fi Community hub being planned for Buckingham County at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

75TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY, 3:30 p.m. at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield State Park. Free to the public.

CHICKEN DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION, 5-6:30 p.m. at Jones Chapel Baptist Church, the rock church, at 947 Trent’s Mill Road in Cumberland. Proceeds will benefit summer mission trips. Take out is also available.

JUNE 9

YOUTH DAY, 11 a.m. at Sharon Baptist Church in Cumberland. Guest speaker will be Trevor Lundy-Jackson of Virginia Beach. All are welcome.

PET ADOPTION EVENT, noon-3 p.m. at Tractor Supply, 1575 S. Main St., Farmville. Come meet pets from Southside SPCA and meet your new best friend.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MINISTRY, 2 p.m. at Union R.Z.U.A. Church of Meredithville. The Rev. Nathan Burwell of Temple Gate R.Z.U.A. Church will bring you a sermonette and the Rev. Pamela Simmons and Sister Arlene Thompson from the Sunday School Convention will have remarks on the importance of Sunday School Ministry within your church. The public is welcome.

21ST CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of The New Store Inspirational Choir. Music provided by various choirs. Hope to see you there at New Store Baptist Church, 9637 Francisco Road, Farmville.

PENTECOST CELEBRATION, 4 p.m. at The Apostolic Faith Church of All Nations. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Marlene Fuller. Music will be provided by the AFCOAN Combined Choir. The church is located at 1358 Sheppards Road, Farmville. All are welcome.

REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 6800 S. Genito Road, Jetersville, with the Rev. Richard Rather and the Rev Mike Teixeira. Special music each night. Sunday night covered dish supper at 5:30 p.m.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 5:30-8 p.m. at Farmville Baptist Church for ages five-12. Theme will be “Fruit of the Spirit.”

SPORTS CAMP, 6:30- 8:30 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church. This fun event is open to all children in the community who have completed K-Fifth grade. Registration is appreciated, but not necessary.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 5:30 p.m. beginning with a simple meal at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at 1301 Milnwood Road, Farmville. Bible school will begin at 6 p.m. Children ages three-12 are welcome.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6-7:30 p.m. at Peaks Baptist Church, 1948 Peaks Road Prospect, ages 5-adults and seniors. Refreshments served nightly. The Rev. Otis Johnson, Pastor.

HISTORY PROGRAM, 7 p.m. hosted by The Friends of the Appomattox River featuring the many and varied historical resources found along the Appomattox River in our area. Robert “Bob” Flippen, will present a Powerpoint that takes the observer on a journey along the river. Program will be held at the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville Prince Edward Community Library. The program is free and open to the public.

JUNE 13

COMPULSIVE EATERS ANONYMOUS MEETING, 10-11 a.m. at Farmville Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Third St., Farmville. Join for help recovering from compulsive eating. For more information contact Debbie at (518) 248-7220 or Joan at (434) 607-1576.

JUNE 14

SUMMER OUTDOOR FILM SERIES, dusk, at Crute Stage, corner of Main and Fourth Street, Farmville. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be for sale. No pets permitted. Rain date will be following evening.

JUNE 14-15

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL DAY CAMP, at Maysville Baptist Church, Buckingham Courthouse. Hours are Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Children ages four through sixth grade are welcome. Lunch will be provided both days and families are welcome Saturday at noon for lunch and the closing program. Fun, interactive Bible teaching, games, snacks, experiments, music and more. FREE COMMUNITY CARNIVAL, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at 1301 Milnwood Road, Farmville. There will be food, prizes and lots of fun games. Everyone is welcome.

YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION, 3 p.m. at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Route 60, Cumberland, featuring praise dancers, choirs and other youth groups from area churches.

CRUISE-IN, 4-8 p.m. hosted by The Heart of Virginia Classic Auto Club in the parking lot by Tractor Supply and AA storage. Bring your classic car to show or just drop by and check out all the good looking cars. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

FILM PREMIER, 5 p.m. for the film, “Hopes City” at the Pamplin Train Depot, 115 Main St., Pamplin.

MEATLOAF SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. hosted by the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary at the Prospect Firehouse located at 45 Campbell Hill Road in the Village of Prospect.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, corner of Fourth and Main Street, Farmville. Topic this year is “Fruit of the Holy Spirit.” All are welcome to attend.
