American History essay contest winner

The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter, NSDAR, sponsored the American History Essay Writing Contest. The essay was on Women’s Suffrage, written as a diary entry of a 13-year-old of that time. The seventh grade winner from Cumberland County Middle School is Hannah Marie Layne. Layne was presented with a certificate during the DAR’s Awards Ceremony which was held April 6 at the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library. Jordon Robert Ledger, eighth grade winner from Fuqua School was unable to attend. Pictured with Layne is First Vice-Regent Dr. Nancy Vick, Chairman of the American History Essay Committee.
