Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. Hatcher Baptist Church of Cumberland welcomes all to attend a celebration in honor of Pastor Cameron Cloud and his family Sunday, June 9, at 6 p.m. as they have been serving the church for the past 20 years and now Pastor Cloud has been led by the Lord to pastor another church in North Carolina.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

Victory Baptist Church located 4339 Road Spout Spring, will be hosting its annual Vacation Bible School for all ages through adults Sunday June 9-11. Sunday will begin at 6 p.m. with Monday and Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. This years theme will be God’s Gospel Train. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, will be hosting its regular monthly meeting Monday, June 3 at 5 p.m. at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Road). All members and their guests are welcome to attend and bring a covered dish for the meal. This will be followed by the June Program. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a one day bus trip Thursday, Aug. 1 to The Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre (WHDT) in Wytheville, to the show entitled “A Country Gospel.” WHDT is happy to present its version of “good ole” country gospel. The production will feature favorite songs that we grew up singing, from spiritual, happy, hand-clapping numbers to sweet beautiful inspirational hymns played by its own talented musicians. So come and join them in this opportunity to praise the Lord. Pickup will be Food Lion in Dillwyn, Farmers Bank parking lot Appomattox and Walmart parking lot in Lynchburg. Limited seating available. Browns, Hanes and Rocky Mount United Methodist churches will be hosting their annual Vacation Bible School Monday June 3-4 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Dillwyn. There will be classes for all ages with this year’s theme being “Yah who Celebration.” Rebecca Cook and the entire congregation welcome all to attend.
