The Farmville Area Chamber of Commerce and Centra Southside Community Hospital chose a mild day filled with sun to hold its 13th annual golf tournament May 9 at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course. Foursomes competed in the morning and the afternoon.

Vendors including Longwood University and The Fishin’ Pig dotted the course and provided free items and activities.

Later that evening participants enjoyed a reception inside the facility at the course.

Proceeds from the event support the chamber.

The event marked a first for the tournament as it was the first time the tournament took place at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course.

Golf Course Manager Shelly Butler said the town was happy to support the event.

Chamber Executive Director Joy Stump thanked participants for taking part in the tournament.

“I am very grateful to all the sponsors, volunteers, family and friends who came out to help and made this event possible,” Stump said. “We couldn’t have done it without you. We were blessed with wonderful weather which made our day really special. We are already looking forward to next year.”
