Support the stand against the landfill

The 41st annual Hudgins Family Reunion was held on Sunday. A nice crowd attended with lots of food, fun and fellowship.

Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. The next meeting will be Sunday, June 9, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 south and Davenport Road.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

Victory Baptist Church located 4339 Road, Spout Spring will be hosting its annual Vacation Bible School for all ages through adults June 9-11. Sunday evening it will begin at 6 p.m., then on Monday and Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. This years theme will be God’s Gospel Train. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, will be hosting its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 3, at 5 p.m. at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church located U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617, Gravel Hill Road. All members and their guests are welcome to attend and bring a covered dish for the meal. This will be followed by the June program. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a one day bus trip Thursday, Aug. 1, to the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre (WHDT) in Wytheville, to the show called “A Country Gospel.” WHDT is happy to present its version of “good ol’” country gospel. The production will feature favorite songs that you grew up singing from spiritual, happy, hand-clapping numbers to sweet beautiful inspirational hymns played by its talented musicians. So come and join us in this opportunity to praise the Lord. Pickup will be Food Lion in Dillwyn, Farmers Bank parking lot, Appomattox and Walmart parking lot in Lynchburg. Limited seating available. A speedy recovery is sent out to all those who are sick and shut-in.

Note: Last year approximately 800 people were killed in car accidents in Virginia with approximately 300 of those not wearing a seat belt. So remember to buckle up for safety.
