Smith earns Bachelor of Science degree

Mary Katherine Smith of Farmville was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Poultry Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during its December 2018 Commencement exercises.
Smith graduated summa cum laude, was President of the Ambassadors for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Animal and Poultry Science Department, lead Teaching Assistant for the APSC First Year Experience course, active in Sigma Alpha sorority and participated in research focused on bovine early stage reproduction issues.
She is completing an internship with Gumz Farm, an American Quarter Horse breeding facility in western Kentucky and will be attending the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in the fall, focusing on large animal reproductive medicine.
Smith is the daughter of Beth and Marshall Smith, Farmville; granddaughter of Jo Smith, Farmville; John Smith Sr., Farmville; and George N Wilson III, Brookview. She is a 2015 graduate of Fuqua School.
