From 1917 to 1964, students of the segregated Pine Grove School in Cumberland County would gather with their families every May for a day focused on community, caring, fun and family. Fifty-five years later, on Sunday, May 26, from 2 to 5 p.m., this event will be recreated in a free, public celebration for children and adults from the local area and Central Virginia.

This May Day Reenactment will be held at the Historic Rosenwald Pine Grove School, located at 267 Pine Grove Road in Cumberland County, and will feature games, dance performances, arts and crafts, and a bake sale and concessions. Music will be provided by DJ X-Cell Productions.

The highlight of the event will be the wrapping of the maypole by former students.
